Kylie is our Counsellor and Psychotherapist at Kid Centric, and after working in IT for many years, Kylie is pursuing her passion for working with children with mental health concerns. Kylie is currently studying her Masters of Counselling (Child and Youth) at the University of Southern Queensland, including studies in Emotional and Behavioural problems in child and youth, PTSD in survivors of child abuse, and numerous psychotherapy techniques including play based therapy, CBT, mindfulness, and psychoanalysis. Kylie has a keen interest in LGBTQI+ clients, and enjoys working with youth who identify in this space, and provides a comfortable, non-judgemental and supportive environment in which youth can explore who they truly are. Additionally, Kylie works with depressed and anxious children of all ages, utilising age-appropriate play/art/music therapy to create a bond with children to help them explore their thoughts and feelings. Kylie enjoys connecting the triad of cognitive thought, emotions and behaviour to assist children and parents with active strategies to work through their concerns. Kylie is an animal lover who is excited to offer Animal Assisted Therapy in the future when her puppy calms down enough to complete his training, and loves spending her spare time with her 4 amazing children and husband Kyle, reading and pottering in the garden.
